I’ve been hearing a lot about meditation lately. It’s crossed my path a few times in podcasts and articles about famous people from entrepreneurial “Gandalf” Peter Sage to media “Dickhead” Rupert Murdoch to guitar wielding sparkling wine legend Carlos Santana.
What is the deal with it? Is it full on tree-hugging hippie crap or essential urban survival stuff? Does it actually help at all or is it a bunch of zen bollocks? The word on the internet is that it can have untold health benefits (untold because nobody really knows?) both physically and mentally.
Ok fine I’ll try it. I did some research as usual and found a few websites that were crap and some mixed information.
I checked out a few videos on youtube which was also mostly a waste of time. In fact most made me want to punch my macbook’s helpless video flap and probably amplified my requirement for meditation! There are an astonishing number of bald men teaching meditation on youtube. I’m feeling fairly confident that baldness does not make you better at meditation although statistics don’t lie. Perhaps smooth heads equal smooth minds.
I did find one that was talking about binaural sounds as an aid and only doing 5 minutes but it was mostly reiterating what I found on this website from a podcast that I’ve listened to a few times. I went with the instructions at the end of this article.
